micro vs macro view

Mark 8:32-33 And he said this plainly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter, and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not on the side of God, but of men.”

If Peter had successfully persuaded Jesus not to die on the cross for us, we won’t be able to be cleansed of our sins. The book “Hard Sayings of the Bible” wrote that when Peter rebuked Jesus when Jesus said that he must suffer and die on the cross to fulfill God’s will, it is actually a temptation for Jesus to not follow God’s will. If he did so, he would be able to live peacefully (SR benefit) but be disobedient and fail to save us (LR loss).

For me, this verses brought two points across: firstly, being honest with my love ones is important if we mean well for each other in the long run, even if it meant unpleasant words would be exchanged; secondly, I need to have a macro view of the consequences of doing certain actions that would allow me to benefit in the SR but harm me in the LR. For the data entry job that I am doing, the hours recorded are done myself and no one is there to supervise me since I am working at home. Therefore, there is a very strong temptation to overstate the hours and earn more. However, I know someone is watching me, and I know that He would provide, therefore there makes no sense for me to do that because I would be even greedier and dishonest in the future.

Sometimes I feel that the entries I typed here are written because I felt prompted to do so. Hope it helps :D
